How to choose the right ad channel for your business

Choosing a channel starts with your customer, not with the platform. Three questions settle it.

Start with the customer

Before asking "where should I advertise?", ask "where does my customer look when they need what I sell?" Someone who needs an urgent service goes to Google. Someone discovering a new product usually sees it while scrolling Instagram or TikTok.

Three questions that settle it

  • Is your customer searching for the solution, or do they need to discover it? Search fits the first, social fits the second.
  • Can your product be understood from a photo or a clip? Visual products do well on visual platforms.
  • How long does the buying decision take? Long decisions need follow-up and content, not a single ad.

Do not start everywhere

Start with one or two channels, set up tracking, and give them enough time to test. Spreading a budget across five platforms makes it hard to judge any of them.

When to add a channel

When results on the first channel are stable and you know what a customer costs there. Then comparing it with a new channel is fair.
